As we begin 2026, we have had a few changes and welcomed two new members to the team. It feels like the perfect time to reintroduce who’s who at LAPS and what we all do.
This year also marks a huge milestone.
LAPS is entering its 10th year.
That’s right, 10 years. What started as a simple jobs board in 2016 has grown into the UK’s largest multi-sport athlete community, the hosts of the biggest networking and careers fair for young professional footballers, and, some might say, industry leaders in athlete transition.
Ronnie Wells – General Manager
Originally joining LAPS as Member Support Manager, Ronnie has always been the first port of call for anything member-related. If you are an athlete, member or not, looking for guidance on your career, Ronnie is the person to speak to.
In his new role as General Manager, Ronnie connects athletes, partners and opportunities. If you are curious, have questions or are unsure where to start, get in touch.
Lauren Smith – Community Manager
Lauren is a two-time Olympian and joined LAPS as Head of Content. Following her maternity leave, she now leads the growth of the LAPS community.
From in-person events and member support webinars to social media and community engagement, Lauren is the go-to person if you want to get involved and feel part of what LAPS is building.
Terry Moor – Partnerships Manager
Terry may not be an athlete, but he has been part of LAPS for eight of the ten years we have existed.
He is on the frontline building meaningful partnerships with businesses that want to hire athletes, attend events and advertise on the LAPS platform, helping organisations understand the value athletes bring beyond sport.
Freddie Owsley – Partnerships Manager
Freddie is a former GB athlete and professional rugby player who joined LAPS in December.
Working alongside Terry, Freddie helps push the message that athletes make exceptional hires and bring resilience, leadership and high performance into the workplace.
Leah McCourt – Content & Marketing Manager
Leah is a professional mixed martial artist and BJJ competitor, joining LAPS in January 2026.
From sharing inspirational athlete stories to highlighting opportunities with our partners, Leah ensures the LAPS message reaches the right people. If you are a former athlete and want to share your career transition story, Leah would love to hear from you.
Adam Campbell – Partner Support Manager
Adam is a current professional footballer and the go-to person for clubs, governing bodies and sports organisations.
If your team wants to learn more about LAPS, access career transition workshops, attend events or ensure your players and athletes are LAPS members, Adam is your direct point of contact.
Robbie Simpson & Rob Steed – Co-founders
The masterminds behind LAPS.
Robbie and Rob have been instrumental in keeping LAPS at the forefront of athlete transition for the last nine years. They have now passed the day-to-day running of the business to the team above, while remaining closely involved as Directors and Advisory Board members.
Whether you are an athlete looking for your next opportunity or a business looking to hire exceptional people with a sporting background, you are in the right place.
