A Busy Day of Interviews

LAPS have been busy filming new video interviews for our members today with two former footballers.

The first is with Andy Scott, who has stayed in the football industry since retiring, having held some major job roles within it. During his playing days, Andy played for Sheffield United, Brentford and Oxford United. Since retiring, he has held both coaching and scouting roles. Andy managed over an eight year period, and held positions at the helm of Brentford (where he won the League Two title in 2008/09, his first full season of management), Rotherham United and Aldershot Town. In coaching roles, Andy won a variety of individual accolades, including a whole host of ‘Manager of the Month’ awards for the respective divisions he was operating in. He has since moved into scouting, somewhat comparable to the recruitment industry, and currently holds the position of Chief Scout at Brentford, who are renowned for developing young, exciting talent.

Our second interview of the day is with Dion Dublin. Dion made his name at Cambridge United before earning a £1,000,000 move to Manchester United, which kick-started a career which saw him earn a handful of appearances at international level and win the Premier League titles in both England and Scotland. Since retirement, Dion’s main work has been in the form of TV presenting. He currently hosts popular property programme Homes Under the Hammer on BBC, and has also been involved in punditry for various football broadcasters including commentating on matches at the highest level. Away from TV and broadcasting, Dion has also invented a musical instrument, ‘The Dube’, a percussion instrument which he used to accompany the band Ocean Colour Scene at the University of East Anglia in 2011.
