There are many business speaker events and lunches these days, but to launch the first LAPS business networking event on Thursday 28th February at All Bar One Milton Keynes, really shows the importance of talking about athlete transition and what elite sportsmen and women can bring to a company, post (and possibbly during) sporting career.
Thank you to Dr Stefan Koehn (academic in sports psychology), Greg Bateman (current Leicester Tigers rugby player) and our own Gail Emms, who gave the audience an insight into the mindset of a professional athlete and how this can be transferred into business. The biggest learning came when discussing an athlete’s ability to cope with pressure – training, acceptance, preparation, all key ingredients – to have that ‘bring it on’ attitude.
